History made as BOE field an all female side for the first time.

It may have been somewhat overdue, but we have finally fielded a women's team for the first time ever! The club entered a six team softball tournament hosted by the Surrey Cricket Foundation at Epsom CC and a wonderful day was had by all.

The format was pairs cricket and the event geared towards newcomers, or those returning to the sport after a long period away. Bank defeated Leatherhead in Game 1 by 33 runs, with Epsom beaten by 26 runs in Game 2. In the final a talented Sanderstead side were victorious by 10 runs to leave us as runners up at the first attempt.

It was a fantastic occasion and gives us something to build on for the future as we try to build women's cricket at the club. We'll certainly be looking to do more more and perhaps even climbing one step higher on the podium.

Thanks to Prithy Surapaneni for helping to organise and captaining the team, plus all of our brilliant first time players. Thank also to Patrick Manaton, Mark Streather and Richard Kendall for various bits of coordination in the build up. Team work makes the dream work.
