The "Performance of the Year" for the 2024 season is sponsored by Prestige. We are very fortunate to have Prestige as our main club sponsor and are incredibly grateful for their support throughout the season. You can find out more about Prestige here.

Team captains from the 1st XI, 2nd XI, 3rd XI, Sunday XI, Midweek XI & Bank Blitz T20 XI, plus Club Chair & Club Captain, nominated one performance each from the 2024 season. The BOECC Management Committee then whittled this down to a shortlist of three for club members to choose from:

  • Joe Hicks scored a fantastic 111 for the Sunday XI vs Flying Ducksmen CC (scorecard here). The opposition had racked up 253/2 declared and Joe came in with the Bank struggling at 3/1. A brilliant innings of 111 in just 77 balls followed, featuring 13 fours and 4 sixes that gave the Bank a chance of victory. When Joe was out that hope disappeared, but the side hung on for a creditable draw at 198/9. It was a great game and without Joe's brilliant innings we wouldn't have come anywhere close to being competitive.
  • Matt Bartlett scored a crucial 31 not out for the 1st XI vs Wandgas 1st XI in Surrey County League Division 2 (scorecard here). The 1st XI had been soundly defeated in the opening two games of the season, with many of the side getting used to playing 1st XI cricket after the change in league. Matt came in at number 9 with the team massively struggling on 28/7. 31 may not sound like a lot, but that undefeated knock from 74 balls changed the game as we eventually reached 87/8 from 45 overs. There was only one 4 scored in the entire team innings because of the wet conditions, showing how difficult run scoring was! The bowlers managed to run through the opposition for a 24 run victory, but none of it would have been possible without Matt's key innings. It was one of just three victories for the 1st XI and was vital in showing many of the players that we had the ability to compete at this level.
  • Will Saich took a stunning 6/3 (yes, 6 wickets for 3 runs) for the 3rd XI vs Hampton Hill 5th XI in Surrey Championship Division 6 Central (scorecard here). 15 year old Will opened the bowling that day and in good batting conditions, ripped the heart out of the Hampton Hill batting line up with 6-3 in 5 overs, bowling admirably straight with four victims clean bowled and one LBW. His contribution saw Hampton Hill bowled out for just 49. This was a team that had a strong line up and went on to finish mid table. Then for good measure Will hit the winning run to give the 3s their first (and only) victory of the season.
